CEC ArtsLink, an international arts organization, is sending Public Art Curator, Kendal Henry and Artist, Luisa Caldwell to the City of Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Kendal and Luisa will conduct workshops and lectures with students and young artists at the Krasnoyarsk Museum Centre and at local schools. These workshops and conversations will culminate into collaborative public art project(s) which will be unveiled on June 13, as part of the City Day celebrations. This Blog documents their journey.

ABOUT KRASNOYARSK
Krasnoyarsk (Russian: Красноя рск) is the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai of Russia, and the third largest city in Siberia. Krasnoyarsk lies on the Yenisei River and is an important junction on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The city is served by Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport. During the Cold War it was home to Krasnoyarsk Northeast air base, which has been turned into apartment blocks since then. Population: 909,341 (2002 census); 912,629 (1989 census).

VisArt: U.S. artist Michael Rakowitz and curator Mark Coetzee to conduct workshops on contemporary art with young artists from Russia and Finland at a pilot program in collaboration with Smolny Institute (St. Petersburg), Bard College (New York), and KUVA (Finnish Art Academy, Helsinki).

This is an incredible room. It does make you breath a little easier just looking at it. Love the picture of you in front of the Matisse...also love the hair cut.
